’90s Style Revival

History tends to repeat itself— this saying definitely holds true in the fashion world.

What prompted this Trending Tuesday post were two totally different ’90s flashback looks worn by my friends.

One outfit was an appropriately eclectic ’90s ensemble for a themed party (think butterfly clips – amaze!) and the other was a chic evening look that encompassed an old school trend that has made a resurgence of late.

There are so many ’90s trends that are making a comeback at the moment.

While there are some trends from that era that are wiggity-wiggity-wiggity-whack, others are definitely wearable when modernised and styled right (in my opinion anyway).

So here we go…

The ’90s beauty trend worth giving another go is deep berry lips. While this shade may have been a hit in the ’90s it is also being spotted frequently on today’s red carpet. The trick is to find a shade that suits you and pair with subtle eye makeup.

Jewellery wise, it’s all about the choker. This piece has come a long way since the ’90s. Remember the tattoo-style version? The look still lives on, as shown on recent catwalks, but in a more sophisticated style.

As for the clothes themselves, nineties grunge is back in a big way, albeit more polished. Think flannel shirts, crop tops and everything denim, in particular denim jackets.
